The Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) and Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) strongly condemn the irresponsible statement by Datuk Fuad Hassan, Director General of JASA (Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas/ Department of Special Affairs) that he suspects we have an understanding with those who want to see that the Barisan Nasional Government be brought down. The allegation is baseless and highly defamatory.

Malaysian Overseas FDI in Oil Palm: SAM Calls to address negative impacts and unethical practices

马来西亚自然之友(SAM)呼吁马来西亚政府,说明过去数年来海外或对外直接投资(OFDI)的负面冲击和不道德作业。

既然马来西亚外流到国外的投资超越注入我国的投资,即引起人们特别注意,它对棕油业所产生的冲击如何。

在2012年首3个月,流出海外的投资总额是马币169.1亿,比流入我国的马币74.8亿超出一倍。马来西亚棕油业在海外直接投资总额只属微小地位。不过由于海外种植活动,尤其是在热带森林、社区土地和泥炭土发展扩大,因此它所引起的不利冲击比马来西亚公司所投资的其他领域更加重要。

SAM prepared a briefing paper for the March 2014 Parliament sitting for law and policy makers. This paper discussed the Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade - Voluntary Partnership Agreement (FLEGT-VPA). The paper served as a background for law and policy makers on indigenous customary land rights and the issuance of MYTLAS licence prior to the signing of the VPA, among others.
