GEORGE TOWN: Unknown to many people here, massive clearing has been taking place over the years on a hillslope in Teluk Bahang near the dam, probably even without the knowledge of the authorities.
There is lush greenery on most sides of the site close to the Teluk Bahang dam but the said lot itself has been stripped bare. Click to read

GEORGE TOWN: Three hillslopes in Sungai Ara, some 5km from the Penang International Airport, are facing rapid deforestation with farmers clearing the slopes for agriculture.

GEORGE TOWN: The clearing of land on Penang Hill is far more widespread than previously thought.
While some bald patches can be seen by the naked eye from the road at the bottom of the hill or by photographers using telephoto lenses, an aerial survey showed rampant hill clearings along the hill slope, especially in Paya Terubong. Click to read
